Definitely feeling like another Beer
Confession time. This writer’s long-term recreatio
nal drug of choice has been the piquant taste comb
ination of Maggie Beer’s Quince Paste with whateve
r cheese to hand.
This may change. News in that
this clever Barossa Valley lady has added another
product line, Apple & Rosemary Paste. Not only is
it recommended for teaming up with sharp/hard chee
ses – there’s also the tantalising suggestion of c
ubing the paste and adding it to the stuffing for
a pork roast. Possibly only the eloquent Homer Sim
pson could express my anticipation of this future
delight! Look in the best supermarkets and delicat
essens.
Bilson bobs up at Circular Quay
American Indians would have probably named restaur
ant legend, Tony Bilson “Cooking Man Who Cannot Si
t Still, Just Do One Thing.” Sydneysiders can now
look forward to Mr. B lending his talents to No.1
Wine Bar, which is planned to open in September at
1 Alfred Street, Circular Quay. He promises an Au
stralian wine bar that, while offering a couple of
classic French dishes, will also serve a great ha
mburger.
