The Merlot for today's Founder's Block is grown around the original 1890s vineyard site with added input from younger vines. A medium bodied wine combining aromas of plum and red currants with robust, savoury notes and smooth oak finish to the flavours. Lush, rounded and attractive.

From grapes grown across five of the six Margaret River sub-regions, through an excellent season, comes a beautifully balanced white. Fresh and ready for early drinking - offering herbaceous softness and lively citrus flavours. Finishing cleanly with hints of snow pea and lemongrass. |

Estate Semillon 2007

| Outstanding fruit from a great season had Buller’s winemakers excited and the proof is in this rewarding vintage for wine-lovers. Excellent depth and character - superb fruit concentration on the palate, and fine, firm tannin finish. Ready to drink, but sure to reward some cellaring too. |
|
Aromas of rose petal and subdued rockmelon lead to a palate of citrus, floral and tropical characters with a clean, acid completion. Overall impression of softness, but still finishing with a lemony acid zest. Fine for drinking now but will soften with longer bottle age. |

Sauvignon Blanc 2005
Around $28

This grape was introduced from California in 1972 and has built a great following for this big, lush style. Prune, chocolate and dark cherry on the nose; ripe fruit on the palate, plus hints of spice and plum jam. It makes best friends with beef dishes. |
|
The Orange district produces this excellent varietal, pale coloured with green tints. First impression is of fresh lychee and gooseberry aromas. The palate has tropical flavours of passionfruit and zesty citrus acid and is untouched by oak. Everything Sauvignon Blanc should be. Beautiful with Asian food.

Wandin Valley
Estate Verdelho 2007
$18.00+
|
A Coonawarra classic, bright crimson in colour, with rich berry and cassis aromas and flavours. Cabernet Sauvignon is the dominant grape, with 15% to 20% Merlot added for softness. Excellent with roast and grilled meat dishes or fine cheese. Will cellar for 7 to 10 years. |
|
Sourced from a small vineyard in the Pokolbin, Lower Hunter Valley, this wine shows outstanding varietal character and intensity of flavour. The aromas and flavours vividly demonstrate the "fruit bowl" appeal of Verdelho. The palate is full and viscous, and at this price, value is top-notch. |
